What a joy it has been welcoming your children back into the library this week! The space was filled with energy, vibrant conversations, and bright smiles as students settled into new routines, checked out their first books, and spent time reflecting on who God is calling them to be this school year.

Our First Week Reflection: Student Feathers

To kick off the term, every student completed a personalized feather. On it, they wrote down the specific ways they intend to “soar” academically, spiritually, and personally over the coming months—from tackling challenging new chapter books to showing greater patience and kindness to classmates.

Together, these individual feathers form a giant set of wings on our main display board under our guiding vision for the year: “Rooted in Christ, Created by God to Soar.”

Grounded in Scripture

Our library theme draws inspiration from Colossians 2:6–7, which encourages us to stay “rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith.”

We discussed with the students how a tall tree needs deep, firm roots to withstand storms and continue growing upward. In the exact same way, before we can reach high academic goals or spread our wings to serve others, our hearts must remain anchored in Christ. When children feel secure in their God-given identity, they gain the true confidence needed to take healthy academic risks, explore tough questions, and dive into new areas of study.

How Students Plan to Soar

• Academic Courage: Trying new book genres, improving research skills, and asking thoughtful questions in class.
• Christlike Character: Encouraging peers, respecting shared spaces, and treating everyone with kindness.
• Spiritual Growth: Grounding daily learning in prayer, curiosity, and gratitude.
