Lessons 1-5 ASL Basic Signs
The benefits of learning American Sign Language (ASL) go far beyond the ability to communicate without spoken words. It helps develop communication skills, cognitive development, personal growth, and social connections.
ASL can help to bridge the gap between hearing and Deaf communities and boost your brain’s abilities in areas like memory and multitasking. It’s a powerful language to learn. Grades 3-8 will be doing a weekly ASL mini-lesson. It is a powerful language to learn!
Upcoming Events
Pumpkin Decorating Contest
October 5, 2025 — October 24, 2025
It’s Halloween time, kids are invited to decorate their own pumpkins as a storybook character and bring them to school! It always amazes me what kids and parents think of :-)
Book Fair
November 2025
As a parent, you want to foster a love of reading in your child, and one of the best ways to spark excitement about books is by visiting a school book fair. These events provide an opportunity for children to discover new stories, engage with their peers, and experience the joy of choosing their own books. Plus, book fairs often support school literacy programs, so your purchase helps build a stronger reading community!
Operation Christmas Child
December 2025
You and your family can bring the good news of Jesus to a child living in poverty by packing a shoebox with small toys and other gifts OR have Samaritan’s Purse pack it for you through ENCOUNTER’s Online Shoebox page! Boxes packed online go to children where the gospel is forbidden to be spoken of. With this option, you make it your own by choosing from a list of gifts, then add a personal letter and photo. The suggested donation for shipping a physical shoebox is $10/box. If you’d like to pack either type of box, come to the library to pick up all the supplies you need to get started: shoeboxes, shipping labels, instructional brochures or tInformation can also be found at samaritanspurse.org
Gift-filled shoeboxes are due back at ENCOUNTER no later than Sunday, November 16
